Induction Ceremony

The New Bedford Star Kids Scholarship Program Induction Ceremony marks the official welcome of newly awarded students and families into our scholarship community. This event brings together students, caregivers, board members, and alumni to celebrate opportunity, commitment, and the beginning of a long-term partnership. During the ceremony, students are presented with a symbolic scholarship check that represents the full potential value of their award, helping families see the real and lasting impact of the support they are receiving.

Brahmin Backpack Giveaway

At the start of each school year New Bedford Star Kids, sponsored by Brahmin, holds a backpack giveaway! Each backpack is filled with school supplies to kick the year off right.

Fall Gathering

Now in its second year, the Harvest Hallow Friendsgiving Pumpkin Party brings families together for a  festive kickoff to the holiday season. Children paint pumpkins, enjoy seasonal treats, and share a hearty meal—often arriving in their Halloween costumes. We are grateful to Kathy Wattles, who generously donates the pumpkins each year and stays to help make the day special for the children. The event is designed to be  welcoming, and centered on connection, celebration, gratitude and community

Holiday Party

New Bedford Star Kids kicks off every holiday season with a special celebration held at a variety of venues. In the past, New Bedford Star Kids have enjoyed a barn party with horseback riding, indoor ice skating, and jumping for joy at Funz Trampoline Park. During the pandemic, New Bedford Star Kids got creative and hosted a very entertaining Zoom Bingo holiday party!

Teen Summit

The Teen Summit is a three-part series designed to engage teens in meaningful, community-minded action. Participants come together to connect, brainstorm, and collaborate on a service project that reflects a pay-it-forward mindset and a culture of gratitude. Through guided discussion, planning, and hands-on service, teens build leadership skills while learning how collective action can create real impact. The experience is designed to empower young people as civic-minded contributors and provide meaningful engagement they can carry forward into future academic and professional pursuits
