Our Misson
New Bedford Star Kids Scholarship Program provides scholarships and wraparound support to K-12 students from families impacted by incarceration and substance abuse. By investing in educational opportunities, enriching experiences, and social and emotional wellbeing, we empower young people to break the intergenerational cycle, pursue their hopes and dreams, and strengthen their communities.
Students
We serve 160 students in kindergarten through twelfth grade from 21 communities across Massachusetts’ SouthCoast. Ninety-two percent of our students attend independent or parochial schools.
Programs
Up to $1,000 each year is available to every Star Kid for activities outside the school day and education-related expenses, including tutoring, athletics, the arts, summer camps, uniforms, books, and technology. Families decide how to use these funds based on their child’s needs and interests.
